AlFajr Palestinian Youth Association has deployed 22 field health educators across displacement sites in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis, to raise public awareness of hygiene and public health practices, promote safe waste management, and reduce the health and environmental risks associated with waste accumulation.

The health educators are conducting a series of field-based awareness workshops and sessions covering proper waste collection and disposal methods, the importance of maintaining cleanliness inside and around tents and communal facilities, handwashing practices, and measures to prevent and limit the spread of communicable diseases within displacement sites.

The team also engages directly with displaced families, provides clear and practical health guidance, and encourages community participation in protecting the environment and improving cleanliness across the sites amid the area’s difficult humanitarian and living conditions.

This activity is being implemented as part of the “Community Health Education for Safe Waste Management in Displacement Camps” project, under the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programme implemented by Al-Fajr Palestinian Youth Association and funded by the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA).

The Association continues its field interventions to promote healthy practices, improve environmental conditions within displacement sites, and strengthen affected communities’ capacity to prevent and address health and environmental risks.
