Implementation Details
As part of ongoing humanitarian efforts to support displaced families and ease their daily burdens, AlFajr Palestinian Youth Association, with generous funding from the Middle East Children’s Alliance (MECA), implemented a project to construct and operate two free clay ovens at displacement shelters in Al-Mawasi, Khan Younis.
The first oven was constructed west of Al-Mawasi School, north of Street 5, while the second was established north of Street 5, west of Al-Ribat College, to ensure that the service reaches as many displaced families in the area as possible.
The project allows families to bring their ready-prepared dough and bake it free of charge in safe and properly equipped ovens, without incurring any additional financial costs. Each oven serves approximately 50 families per day, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to around 100 displaced families daily.
This intervention responds to the growing need for safe and free bread-baking facilities amid difficult humanitarian and living conditions, as well as the rising costs of fuel and cooking supplies. It also contributes to preserving families’ dignity and strengthening their ability to cope and remain resilient.
